Originally a fan of Hip Hop, Nickelz became a student of rap in the 80s and has been grinding in the Philadelphia hip hop scene since the early 90s. Over the years, Nickelz has battled, worked with, and gained the respect of many underground rap artists and, through those connections, worked with super producers such as Documentalz (Bilal, M.O.P) and Grammy-award winning producer Emile Haynie (Bruno Mars, Eminem, Kanye West).
To critical acclaim, Nickelz released his debut solo album, The Mint, in 2008 under the independent record label Compass 120 Entertainment. After taking a break to become a father and mentor in his community, Nickelz has re-signed with Compass 120 and has since released his sophomore album, The Making of a Mint Nickel — which was 10 years in the making.
Nickelz is currently working to release his third studio album with Compass 120, linking back up with Documentalz, for a fresh new project laced with trap, gangster, and new age hip hop hits.
